In climax of the 2008 Beijing Olympics (August 8-24, 2008), TBIS in conjunction with CUHK and HKPU organized the 1^st International Symposium of Textile Bioengineering and Informatics with a theme on “Sports× Health×  Eco× Function× Sportswear Creative Design” which is jointly held with the 2^nd SMART Convention. The purpose is to promote multi-disciplinary approach of creative design innovations for sports, health, eco and sustainable lifestyle.

The SMART-TBIS joint symposium (August 14-16, 2008) aims to set up a unique global stage and platform for people in the whole supply chain/community of sports wear, sports shoes, sports goods, sports medicine and rehabilitation with common interests in providing high quality  products and services. It will bring excellent opportunities for both academic researchers and industrialists to exchange ideas, identify new products/ technologies/ services/ markets and obtain good recognizable achievements.
